Playing Parts
Antonina, the beautiful Byzantine guisard of the Greek Middle Ages, lives with joy and frivolity in a permanent game of seducing people around her. In such a game she will meet general Andronicos. The safety, the protection and the social recognition on the one side and the strong underground and open conflicts with the other members of the general’s family on the other, are her new environment.
It is autumn, when Antonina meets and falls in love with Theodosius, a guest and friend of Andronicos’ sun Fotios, just as a game. With joy and frivolity Antonina and Theodosius take advantage of the long absence of the general. They are an odd couple, which goes out and haunts the streets of the medieval city at night.
At no time the scandal bursts out and gets to Andronicos. So, while Antonina is being arrested, pilloried and put in prison, Theodosius escapes and being hunted hides in a monastery. A story about friendship and generosity. A fairytale taken from a true story.
