Routes 1821
The Greek War Of Independence (1821) and the Peloponnese region are inextricably linked. This is no coincidence, given the density of events that took place in the area. But are we aware of the richness of these historical moments? How many aspects of them have we been taught?
These are just two of the questions behind the idea of “ROUTES-1821”, a free application that highlights the landmarks of the Peloponnese charged by their historical role in the Revolution. With respect and originality, the application is another contribution to the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the Greek War, with the contribution of the J. F. Costopoulos Foundation.
The aim for the short and concise texts, which are also available as podcasts, is to reach a wider audience, beyond history lovers and, ideally, to become a tool in the hands of teachers in their efforts to make teaching engaging by connecting place and narrative.
